Guidelines for New Member Sponsor

A Good Candidate:

  1. Should be enthusiastic and have at least one area of particular interest or expertise in horticulture, design, conservation or civic betterment.

  2. Should not be reluctant or need to be persuaded to join the Club.

  3. Should express an interest in the Club’s purpose which is “to stimulate an interest in the cultivation of plants, flowers and the making of gardens, to learn about flower design and to promote community and civic betterment.”

  4. Should be aware that a new member is expected to join and participate on a Club committee and attend Club events.

A Good Proposer:

  1. Will have met with the candidate.

  2. Will provide a copy of the Membership Requirements and review them with the candidate.

  3. Will give a letter of sponsorship and a completed application to the Membership Chair.

  4. Will greet the candidate at meetings and events and make introductions to the Membership Chair and to as many Board Members as possible.

  5. Will stay in close contact with the new member for a least a year, making sure the new member feels welcome and is participating in the Club’s activities.
