"Some 450 persons viewed the show and "refreshment time” was served outside as the tide was creeping up the creek by Ole Amundsen’s Boat Yard”. Eight special awards were given out by the panel of nine judges. The coveted Tri-Color Award was given to Mrs. Jesse Radford. The show was awarded the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Flower Show Achievement Award “a sensitive and beautifully coordinated schedule produced a Flower Show of great appeal and awareness of the problems of our time.
