This native perennial grows to a height of 3 feet and is covered in 1” purple petaled blooms. They start blooming in late September and don’t stop until November weather gets to be really miserable.

Its delightful, sweet fragrance fills the air around it, and its long, slender leaves add an elegant touch to any garden or landscape. The flowers also make excellent cut flowers, adding a pop of color and fragrance to indoor arrangements.

You can cut it back in June and it will grow into a well behaved mound the will smothered in flowers, or you can let it grow until it works its way into gaps left by earlier blooming plants that can tend to diminish after August. Either way, it will fill your garden with intense October color when everyone seems to be happy with brownish mums.
