Gladiolus 'Black Sea' is a stunning cultivar of the popular gladiolus plant, prized for its striking appearance and bold colors. As its name suggests, 'Black Sea' features deep, velvety black flowers that make a dramatic statement in any garden or floral arrangement.

The flowers of Gladiolus 'Black Sea' are large and elegant, with a delicate texture and a dramatic dark coloration that is truly unique. Its 30” - 40” stems are flanked by pristine upright foliage, making it a fantastic vertical plant for containers as well as the border.

Most local gardeners don’t know this, but gladiolus are quite hardy when planted in the garden and the bulbs get bigger every year. They are also easy to dig up and store until next spring. They bloom in August, and if you plant a second batch 3-4 weeks later, you will have blooms for twice as long.

Glads are the best cut flowers. They open from the bottom up: the upper flowers open as the lower flowers fade. The top of the stalk always looks fresh and as long as you remove the spent blooms, the will last for an incredibly long time in floral arrangements.
