Container Plants

These are all great in containers.

Shorter iris are great in containers! Their foliage adds a lot of texture - it’s very upright, broad, and a cool soft shade off green. Calamintha blooms all summer and responds very well to sever cutbacks. The other ones are not really hardy - agapanthus is borderline.

Freesia and Tuberose have incredible scents. Tuberose loves hotter weather and freesia loves cooler weather - so something will smell good.

Heuchera are also great in pots because their foliage is beautiful and generally doesn’t get nibbled on by bugs or beasts. You can leave it in the pot indefinitely - eventually it will get too big but that can take years.

Cardinal lobelia is a beautiful thriller for containers in shady areas.
